Doll Suitcase

Our neighbor, Mrs. Fae, gave Ella a vintage suitcase a while back.  It's so cute, and I've been racking my brain for a way to repurpose.  As luck would have it, I happened upon a blog http://hartandsew.blogspot.com/2011/11/doll-suitcase-tutorial.html where a creative mom took a green one, like Ella's, and made her daughter a doll suitcase.  And, she included a tutorial!

I'm certainly not a seamstress, so it took me a bit to figure out the surprisingly detailed process on the tutorial and to machine sew each little decoration onto the removable "wall."

Secret clothes storage space under the floor (can be easily removed by the little blue tab in the back, right corner of the first picture).

I think Ella will be surprised when she opens it on Christmas morning.  Don't you?

FRIENDSHIP

Earlier this week, Ella, Dag, and I headed out of the city to our new favorite country spot:  Four Seasons Bison Ranch in Thornton, Texas.  Dag joined his pack of paw pals (Duncan and Danny), Ella became one with the land, furry critters, and her adopted "Mrs. Jan and Mr. Hank." Mom had some much-loved, adult time with one of her best friends from college.

There's something incredibly soothing about true friendships, two lanes roads, pastures filled with livestock...

Thank you, nature!  Thank you, Jan and Hank, for allowing this surb girl to experience the country...and being reminded that we have so much to learn just by being present.

Tree of Thanks

Let's Be Thankful

Let's be thankful for this day
for our friends and our play.

Let's be thankful; let's be glad
for our food and the things we have.
Let's give thanks for you and me
And our home and family.

I asked Ella today what she is most thankful for and loves with all of her heart? She replied without hesitation--and in this order:
1.  Jesus
2.  Daddy (yes, she mentioned him first;).
3.  Mommy
4.  Dag-a-roo
5.  Rudolph

Filled with gratitude for all our blessings!

Amazing Ella Grace

Ella loves STORIES.  She doesn't care if we read them, watch them, live them, make them up, or act them out...and she ALWAYS gets the most exciting part.

The Little [Girl] Who Could...

She camped under the Costa Rican stars
 spent time in a bubble
flew duo with Amelia Earhart
 built a house of bricks
 cooked with Julia Child
auditioned for Sissy in Urban Cowgirl
 splashed under a Super Moon
had daydreams with Lyla

 played bagpipes for the troops
grew up with Stone Aged parents in the town of Bedrock
believes "A Dream Is a Wish your Heart Makes" in Cinderella

bit into a poisonous apple, fell into a deep sleep, and was awakened by her Prince
watched the balloons drop in Times Square
joined the cast of ER

volunteered at the local animal shelter

dined in Hee Haw's Kornfield Kounty

floated across the English Channel (sans helium balloons)

minored in Global Studies

had tea with her Prince Charming

...and Waltzed Across Texas

Our Amazing Ella Grace...the little girl who can do anything when she puts her mind to it!

How Sweet Your Sound.

Hi Ho Dusty

They belong together
like the moon and her tides
young girls and horses on magical rides...

Happy Trails...
