Spring Pinning

One of my favorite things of spring is its constant transformation, but what defines it most for me is an almost constant symphony of birds outside our window.

Ella loves her birds--and making sure they stay well fed.  She can identify most of the ones found in our backyard, but sometimes we can only see a distant silhouette, which is why it seemed like the perfect time to put together some tools to help magnify and identify.

In the spirit of Pinterest, we created our very own Bird Pinning Board:

Plenty of green space to post our color pictures of the birds we've identified

Prelude to Spring

Yep, Spring is only a day away! We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate its coming than to experience our favorite activities in nature.

We watched the clouds
Saw beautiful birds and listened to them sing

Welcomed our Purple Martin Scout
Held a lady bug
 Picked fresh veggies and strawberries
Made a rainbow ribbon wand and mini may pole
 Beautified our outdoor furniture
Watched lizards quarrel
Enjoyed tea outside
 Planted a garden
Splashed in the pool

Off to chase butterflies, search for four leaf clovers, ride bikes on a trail through the woods, and listen to Vivaidi's Spring from Four Seasons....

Happy Spring Adventures!

While you were sleeping

Gone are the lazy days of sleeping in, but the mornings now bring so much more.

We started out talking with the toads and reading about their life cycle

We paused to renovate/relocate the former toad house into a toad tunnel
We fed the birds, watched their magic show, and enjoyed their music during breakfast
We provided the toads with an unintended iPhone nursery rhyme garden concert before heading off to the pool
...and plotted our next creation--ALL before 8:00!

Our morning song:
Good morning dear earth
Good morning dear sun
Good morning to the trees and the flowers everywhere

Good morning dear beast
and the birds in the trees
Good morning to YOU
and good morning to me!
