Epiphany

Today, January 6th, the Epiphany, the 12th day of Christmas, and the arrival of the Three Kings to visit baby Jesus.

Margarita Sims posted a wonderful link https://interruptingthesilence.com/2022/01/04/house-blessing-with-chalk-epiphany-2022/?fbclid=IwAR2-exrTOBvi9TnBLYdF40UCJnpf3K50fT2wUn2uBb_hGt6YbmXrgt77j4U that explains today's celebration beautifully.

First, we blessed our chalk and then our home.  “Chalking the door” is a way to celebrate and physically mark the occasion of the Epiphany and God’s blessing of our lives and home.

The letters C, M, B have two meanings:  1) initials of names of the three kings, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar; and, 2) abbreviations of the Latin words Christus Mansionem Benedicat, "May Christ bless the house."  The + is a symbol of the cross, and the year 2022 is represented.

Blessings to all family and friends who enter our home!
