Black Swallowtail Butterfly

June 8:  Found the caterpillar on our parsley plant 

June 8:  brought it inside, placed in the butterfly garden

It ate every leaf off the parsley plant, so we added carrot stems
(fresh from Mr. Steve and Mrs. Lisa's garden).

June 17:  Getting ready to pupate/form a chrysalis 

June 18:  The exoskeleton split exposing the pupa

June 19 - Final chrysalis is brown instead of green because ours is pupating on a brown stick.

July 30 - Still waiting...

I thought butterflies emerged in one-two weeks (not six)?  Think this sweet Swallowtail is going to spend the winter with us?
