Ella's Journey...

Childhood should be a journey--not a race.
 Paula Hester Hickman

Parenting is the most rewarding--yet difficult--job I've ever had.  It seems we've stumbled into a unique place in the history of childhood where we feel an unbelievable pressure to give our children everything and make them the best at everything (starting at a very young age).

I'm surrounded by parents (many financially strapped) who taxi their little ones from one extracurricular activity to another, day-after-day, with the hope of giving them a competitive advantage.  What happened to unconditional parenting and letting our children work out who they are instead of who we want them to be?

Life simply goes by too fast.  Troy and I hope Ella's journey will be filled with ample time and space to explore her world on her own terms--and discover the simple pleasures in life.
