Peace, Love and...

1st Grade!
First day of school complete:  Old friends, new friends, Mrs. Nielsen, stories about her day, science experiments, big smiles, abandoned butterflies....  I'd call that a successful day of 1st grade.

Enjoy the rest of the year little spunky one!

We Felt Like It...

... was time for a new bar of long-lasting bath soap--and a little sudsy fun on a hot summer day.
Scrub a dub dub!

Ella was just a toddler last time we felted soap:

Haiku

Ella's first Haiku (using the Chin Method for counting syllables):

Rainbow in the sky
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue...
Our promise from God.

Inspired after learning about Haiku poetry from Mary Pope Osborne's Dragon of the Red Dawn.https://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Magic-House-Merlin-Mission/dp/0375837280/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465872838&sr=8-1&keywords=Dragon+of+the+Red+Dawn

Summer Camp...

...adventures begin tomorrow with a Kid's week-long Native American cooking class featuring food practices, celebrations, ceremonies, ways of life and living, team building--and so much more. And, of course, the camp is hosted by our favorite teacher, fermenter, and friend, Jamila!

We spent the past few days talking about Native Americans.  Today, we decided to turn our neighborhood estate sale find into a "summer camp" house for some rainy day indoor fun.
